Meta Ads Delivered to UK Audiences Cost 2% More From 1 July. It Is Not in Your Budget Line.
On 1 July 2026, Meta began adding a location-based fee to ads delivered in six markets. The rate is set by where the ad is shown, not where the advertiser sits. For the United Kingdom it is 2 per cent. The others run higher: France, Italy, and Spain at 3 per cent, Austria and Türkiye at 5 per cent.
It is billed on top of your spend, as a separate line on the invoice, labelled something like "Regulatory operating cost." It does not appear inside Ads Manager, so your invoice total and your reported spend will no longer match.
That gap is the point. Meta's "cost per result" is still calculated on media spend alone. Your reported performance can look identical while your true cost has risen.
The math, on UK delivery: a £10,000 monthly Meta budget carries a £200 monthly fee. £2,400 a year that buys no extra impressions. If you also run into the European markets above, the effective rate climbs toward 5 per cent.
Our read: this is a margin story, not a reporting quirk. Your media cost rose on 1 July and your dashboard did not move. If you buy to a target return on ad spend or a cost-per-acquisition ceiling, that ceiling just shifted under you, and Ads Manager will not tell you. Owners who manage to margin caught it on the July invoice. Owners who manage to in-platform cost per lead did not.
Knowing your true, all-in cost to acquire a customer is where a pipeline audit starts. Most owners we speak with are working from the platform number, which is now wrong by up to 5 per cent.
